Furby Field Guide (2025) Top main text: 'Common Furby: Furby familiaris (VU). Once highly populous and widespread, the common furby has declined in numbers in recent years due to competition from other furby species combined with urbanization of their habitat. Captive breeding programs have had some success in revitalizing wild populations. They are variable in color and pattern, but typically exhibit distinct countershading on the belly typical of the Bicoloratus subgenus.'
